      This article presents approaches of consultancy services in the field of construction projects management, and also principles and methods for choosing the right consultant. The fragmented or integrated conception that the clients have on consultancy services determines the way in which consultancy is done: focused or global. The most frequently used methods for choosing a consultant in constructions involve considering the allocated budget, proven competency, using a single source, the contest for solutions regarding design and price negotiation.
