Beginning with the Reform Era in North America to the signing of the GATS, this article identifies the effects of globalization of higher education. More specifically, the field of business education is explained by the models of supply currently being offered in this global economy. Based on doctoral research of an Australian MBA program offered in Malaysia, a new approach to higher education management is proposed; stakeholder goal alignment (Lawrence, 2006).
The four goal themes of cost, commitment, career and credential are identified relative to the goal alignment model. Educational programs following a goal alignment model would allow each stakeholder, especially students, to make informed choices towards educational endeavors.
